Fashion District sponsors Reading Terminal Market’s 125th Birthday

February 22, 2018

PHILADELPHIA, PA. (February 22, 2018) – Fashion District Philadelphia is thrilled to announce that it will be the sole Platinum sponsor of the year-long 125th Birthday celebration for Philadelphia’s Reading Terminal Market. As part of the partnership, Fashion District Philadelphia will be the lead sponsor for three of the Anniversary’s signature events—1893 Day, Diamond Days and Taste of the Market.

Opened in 1893, Reading Terminal Market is one of America’s largest and oldest public markets, and is the oldest in the city of Philadelphia. As Reading Terminal’s newest neighbor, Fashion District Philadelphia is excited to officially kick-off this new partnership by becoming the largest sponsor of the Market’s historic celebration.

“As we get closer to the opening of Fashion District Philadelphia, the region’s first immersive, metropolitan destination shopping, dining and entertainment experience, we couldn’t be more excited to support our neighbors at the Reading Terminal Market on their special birthday and also begin to spread the word about our project coming to life,” said Erika Joy Erb, Director of Marketing for Fashion District Philadelphia. “We can’t wait to celebrate the Market’s 125th Birthday by sponsoring many incredible events and happenings they have planned throughout the year.”

Reading Terminal Market’s 125th Birthday events include:

1893 Day (February 22, 2018): Reading Terminal Market will celebrate the anniversary of its opening day with a market-wide festival open to the general public that reflects dress, customs, music and food circa 1893. Elected officials, local celebrities, media personalities and representatives from Fashion District Philadelphia will all participate in the celebration.

Diamond Days (multiple days throughout 2018): Diamond Days are a series of public events focused on thanking Reading Terminal Market’s loyal customers. The days will include appreciative gestures from Market merchants, including food samples, free cooking demonstrations, giveaways, and price roll-backs reflecting the Market’s 125th anniversary.

Taste of the Market (September 2018): This event will bring together Philadelphia’s finest chefs to highlight the breadth and diversity of the Market’s merchants and fresh products. Local chefs will develop and sample innovative recipes using Market merchant products. Local artists and musicians will also be featured at the event.
